Power off the iPhone 4 by holding the button on top of the phone and the home button at the same time for between 15 and 30 seconds. Swipe to turn off the power when directed to do so.
Hold iPhone so that you can see the bottom of the phone. Insert the end of a paper clip into the small hole on the bottom of the phone, and firmly press until the SIM card tray pops out.
Pull out the SIM card tray, and place the SIM card in it, aligning it with the edges of the tray. The writing on the SIM card should face up.
Hold the tray above its slot on the bottom of your phone, and push in until you hear it snap into place. Turn the phone right-side up to make sure that the SIM card tray doesn't fall out.
