In some cases a cash deposit can be tendered to avoid the credit check process and divulging personal information.
The T-Mobile online application requires all of the identification elements to be entered before the user can proceed. To exercise the deposit option, it is generally necessary to go to a T-Mobile store. The company no longer requires credit checks, as of April 2015, for smartphone promotions and upgrades, as long as the customer has paid his T-Mobile bill on time for the past 12 months. New customers still have to complete the credit check process, because T-Mobile claims that half of all applicants fail a credit check.
