Some highly rated stereo speakers, as of 2015, include the Dayton B652, Pioneer SP-BS22-LR and NHT SuperZero 2.0. Other highly rated stereo speakers include the Audioengine A2, Audioengine P4 and Pioneer SP-FS52.
The Dayton B652 is a midsize speaker that stands almost 12 inches high and about 7 inches wide. This speaker system has spring-clip wire connectors, bass definition and accurate tonal balance. It retails for about $40. The Pioneer SP-BS22-LR is a bookshelf speaker that comes from the same designer as the ultra high-end TAD Reference One, which has an $80,000 price tag. The Pioneer SP-BS22-LR much cheaper, however, with a retail price of about $130 for the pair.
The NHT SuperZero 2.0 is a good entry-level audiophile speaker that has a good treble and midrange sound, and though the bass isn't deep, it is solid. The Audioengine A2 works well with a computer or an iPod, and the tonal balance is full and relaxed, improving the sound of poor production. The Audioengine P4 is larger than the Audioengine A2, and it is also cleaner, clear and more vibrant. It sells for only $50 more than the A2.
The Pioneer SP-FS52 is a tower speaker that is just over 35 inches tall. It has a soft-dome tweeter and three woofers. The design of the tweeter and woofers allows it to sound bright and loud, with a lot of power. This speaker costs about $260 for the pair.
