Some of the high-rated cameras that come with a viewfinder include Canon SX60 HS, Nikon Coolpix P900, Cannon PowerShot SX50 HS, Nikon Coolpix P530 and Fujifilm Finepix S. Almost every SLR camera possesses a viewfinder, but there are very few mirrorless and compact cameras that include this feature.
There are two types of viewfinders: electronic and optical. Most DSLRs possess electronic viewfinders with a small electronic display similar to an LCD screen on the back of the camera. Optical viewfinders employ prisms and mirrors to represent the view. Some prominent cameras with electronic viewfinders include Canon SX60 HS, Panasonic TZ70/ZS50, Fuji X30, Sony RX10 and Fuji X100T. Cannon PowerShot A1300, FUJIFILM X20 and Nikon D3100, on the other hand, feature optical viewfinders.
An electronic viewfinder allows the photographer to see exactly what the sensor of the camera sees. Also, the view of the imagery or scene is never obstructed when taking a photograph. Most DSLR cameras improve the electronic viewfinder display further by simulating the motion blur, highlighting the focused areas and increasing the brightness when taking a photo at a dark place. An optical viewfinder, on the other hand, offers much better dynamic range, clarity and an instant view of the action.
