What Happens When You Add "@Vtext.com" to the End of a Number?

Verizon text messaging subscribers can send text messages to each other via the Internet by adding "@Vtext.com" to the end of Verizon mobile numbers. The concept works much like sending emails.

To send a Vtext message, customers can navigate to Vtext.com. They must enter their Verizon mobile number and Verizon password and click Go or Login. The customer enters the intended recipient's mobile number in the Sent to field, along with a message up to 140 characters in length in the Message field. Clicking Send submits the text message.

This messaging service supports alphanumeric messages only. It excludes all types of attachments as well as emoticons. Customers must enter mobile numbers without spaces or dashes.
