Samsung, Sony, LG Electronics, TCL and VIZIO sell 32-inch LED TVs that generally get good reviews on Amazon.com for less than $200. 40-inch televisions are commonly priced around $250 to $350, as of 2015.
Liquid Crystal Displays, or LCD, TVs are usually thinner and wider than traditional CRT TVs. An LED TV is a type of LCD TV that uses LEDs to backlight the screen. High Definition, or HD, can display both HD and non-HD or standard content and images. HDTVs have viewing resolutions of 720p, 1080i or 1080p, referring to the amount of megapixels displayed on the screen.
Some TV stations, cable and satellite providers broadcast channels and programs in HD. Blu-ray players and next generation consoles also display content in HD. To get the full benefit of the improved picture quality, the viewer needs a screen of at least 32 inches, measured diagonally across the screen from corner to corner. Ideally, use HDMI cables to connect HD devices to a HDTV.
