FlightAware live tracker allows users to see flights currently in the air, access information on flights scheduled for the day and find updates on delays or cancellations. FlightAware tracks flights primarily in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, France, the United Kingdom and Australia.
FlightAware uses data from government sources, airlines and commercial data providers to share live information on flights. The information is on a 30 second delay for many flights. Other information is delayed 5 minutes to comply with government regulations. The flight information updates anywhere from one to four times per minute.
Flights appear on a map with the flight path marked. The current location of the flight shows up as a plane icon. Users can see all flights in the air or search for only one specific flight. This allows users to track the status of a flight.
Users have several search options, including airline, airport and type of aircraft. When the user selects a specific flight, the details appear to the right of the map. FlightAware displays the flight number, time, airports, duration, speed, altitude, distance, type of aircraft and average fare. For flights in the air, FlightAware shows the distance and time traveled and the distance and time remaining.
