If a user is having trouble signing into an MSN account, the validity of the user's password should first be checked and the user should check to ensure that his Caps Lock is not on. It is important to note that as of 2012, MSN Hotmail is no longer in use and all Hotmail email accounts have been switched over to MSN Outlook at Live.com. Users who have missed the changeover may need to update their accounts.
If a password has been double-checked and there are still sign-in difficulties, the trouble may be on Microsoft's end. A user may check Microsoft's service status via the Status page on Live.com. Another issue may be the hacking of a user's account. If a user believes that their account has been hacked, they should report it to Microsoft immediately so that they can reset their Live password.
If there are still sign-in issues, a user can run the Microsoft accounts troubleshooter to help diagnose problems. However, this feature is only available to those users who are using Windows 8.1. Additionally, a user can open a help ticket with Microsoft via email, and their concerns will be responded to within 24 hours of the help request.
