The iPhone 6S features an advanced smartphone computing system with power and speed that resemble a desktop computer. The iPhone 6S has a new touch system called 3D Touch, with variable pressure and depth of touch that allow users to complete tasks more quickly and easily.
The iPhone 6S has a 64-bit A9 chip that provides up to 70 percent faster performance on the central processing unit and up to 90 percent faster performance for graphics-intensive applications and games. Apple calls the A9 the most advanced chip ever to power a smartphone. The LTE system allows downloading apps and browsing the Web at twice the speed of previous generations.
The smartphone features a 12-megapixel camera with 4K video that is four times higher resolution than 1080p. Apple has a new service called Live Photos that allows users to capture moments just before and after they click the shutter and then put them in motion with the tap of a finger.
The cellphone's enclosure is made of a new aluminum alloy, the same grade as the aerospace industry uses. The cover glass is the most durable and strongest ever used in a smartphone, Apple says. A new color, rose gold, joins the previously available colors of space gray, silver and gold. The 6S Plus has a 5.5-inch display, and the basic model has a 4.7-inch display.
