The Follett Destiny mobile library app allows a user to check in and check out resources, search for a patron name, monitor an item or copy status, and view patron account summaries. The mobile app also lets users scan or enter barcodes. However, scanning is only possible for iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S, and iPad3 or higher models.
The Follett Destiny mobile app facilitates text and resource circulation for librarians without requiring their physical presence in an office or library. The app allows librarians to interact with circulation tools and eContent using a mobile device. As of 2016, the mobile app only works on a mobile device with a Destiny system of v10.5 or higher and a 3G/4G network or Wi-Fi connection. Apple iPhone and iPad devices must have an iOS version of 5.0 or higher. The mobile app is compatible with Android devices and tablets featuring versions 2.1 to 2.3.7; however, scanning doesn't work on Android smartphones.
To check out or check in, tap Scan to make the mobile device camera scan a barcode. The app's patron status shows patrons which books they have out of the library. The item status feature allows librarians and teachers to scan any school or library barcoded book within a school compound to find out who checked it out from the library.
