Adobe Dreamweaver is a web development tool that combines an interactive website view, called Live View, with a high-feature code editor. Dreamweaver's Live View shows a site in real-time, allowing for interactive edits and troubleshooting. Dreamweaver supports design of websites as well as mobile content. Dreamweaver's Live View makes coding a website interactive because it constantly updates with code changes. Because of Live View, Dreamweaver is suitable for coders as well as those with limited or no coding experience.
Adobe Dreamweaver was created and maintained by Macromedia from 1997 until 2005, when Adobe acquired Macromedia. As of 2015, Adobe Dreamweaver is a part of Adobe's Creative Cloud and is sold as an ongoing monthly service rather than a one-time product. Dreamweaver is available for Windows and Mac OS X.
Adobe Dreamweaver features both a Live View and a code editor, making it a suitable web and mobile design application for both coders and designers. Dreamweaver's code editor offers numerous versatile features, including syntax highlighting, code completion, real-time syntax checking and code introspection. Live View allows users to view real-time updates to code changes as well as visually perform changes directly on the page. Dreamweaver also includes features to upload a site's code to a web server over FTP, SFTP or WebDav.
