One example of the spiral model in technology is the Future Combat Systems program that the United States military used. The military used this system from 2003 until 2009 as a type of modernization program.
The Future Combat Systems software works to create new brigades that have unmanned and manned vehicles. These link together with a flexible and fast battlefield network. Army officials and the Pentagon canceled the efforts to continue using this program in April and May of 2009. The parts of this software program that they kept went into a new program, the Army Brigade Combat Team Modernization Program.
