Examples of computer hardware include central processing units, motherboards, random access memory, video cards, power supplies, hard drives, optical drives, keyboards, monitors, mice and speakers. Computer hardware is all the physical components of a computer as opposed to the digital components, such as software.
Hardware can be found both inside and outside of the computer itself. Some older hardware, such as joysticks and analog modems have been replaced by newer technology. There is also network hardware that is part of a business or home network; this includes routers, network switches, and firewalls. Auxiliary hardware includes heat sinks, fans, power cables and data cables.
