An EPIX subscription works by paying a subscriber fee in exchange for access to the EPIX cable channel, on-demand content and the EPIX.com streaming service. Some cable and satellite providers bundle EPIX with other channels, while others charge a separate a-la-carte fee to subscribe to EPIX.
The EPIX cable channel shows a changing selection of primarily recent Hollywood films. Most of the films shown on EPIX are big budget films that have already been successful during their runs in theaters. EPIX subscribers can either watch the movies as they air on the EPIX channel or use EPIX on demand to watch selected films at their convenience. An EPIX subscription also grants access to EPIX.com, a streaming site with a large number of films available to watch at any time.
EPIX.com is only available to customers with an EPIX television subscription. EPIX does not offer a separate EPIX.com subscription to other potential subscribers. Subscribers can watch EPIX.com on any Apple or Windows computer, and an EPIX.com app is also available for Android, iOS, Amazon Kindle Fire and Windows tablets and smartphones. Subscribers can have the EPIX.com app installed on up to 10 different devices at any one time.
Occasionally, a movie on EPIX.com or on EPIX on demand will be visible but not available to watch. This happens because EPIX keeps information on films available even when a different network purchases the license to those films.
