Edmodo is an online and mobile application that allows teachers to create a miniature social network and share class-related information within the group. Groups created on the platform are limited to only members that are invited directly by the teacher who serves as a moderator.
On Edmodo, a teacher can moderate and control the content shared in the closed group. Content such as homework, grades and school announcements can also be shared through the application. Edmodo was created in 2008 by two classroom teachers, Jeff O'Hara and Nic Borg, to harness the power of social media to help facilitate learning.
