EchoStar 7 is the name of a space satellite that is part of the DBS satellite fleet. The EchoStar Satellite Services company owns and leases a total of 24 satellites used for government services, entertainment transmissions and civilian services.
Weighing in at nearly 9,000 pounds, EchoStar was launched in 2002 from Cape Canaveral, Florida, and is the fourth operational EchoStar satellite in the DBS satellite fleet. DBS satellites are used for direct broadcasting, which usually involves transmitting television and radio signals for government and civilian applications. EchoStar 7 is equipped with one 44-inch receiving antenna and two 108-inch transmitting antennas.
