Most states provide a driver's license handbook or manual through their Department of Motor Vehicles website. Some states, such as New York and California, provide both online versions and downloadable PDF versions of the handbook.
To find your state's driver's handbook, go to your state's website. Under headings such as Services, Departments or Site Map, look for the Department of Motor Vehicles. On your state's DMV page, look for categories similar to New Driver or Driver Handbook.
As an example, to find the California driver's manual, go to CA.gov, and click Site Map at the bottom of the page. Under Driving & Transport, click Driver's License & Registration. On the DMV page, hover over Driver License, and click Driver Handbooks.
