As of 2015, DIRECTV offers six television packages: Select, Entertainment, Choice, Xrta, Ultimate and Premier. Select, the least expensive option, features over 130 channels and is offered at $19.99 per month. The Premier package features over 285 channels for $87.99 per month. The prices for all packages are good for 12 months with a 24-month agreement. This means the prices increase after one year and subscribers must keep the service for two years to avoid disconnection penalties. All packages include the Genie DVR, which provides DVR services in up to four rooms.

Effective in 2015, Dish Network offers four television packages: Smart Pack, America's Top 120, America's Top 200 and America's Top 250. The least expensive, Smart Pack, features over 55 channels for $19.99 per month. The most expensive, America's Top 250, features more than 290 channels for $39.99 per month. These are introductory rates that increase after 12 months and require a 24-month commitment. The Smart Pack does not include the Hopper DVR service that is included with the other three packages.
