To disable Norton 360 Anti-virus, open the program and remove all checks from the boxes shown, including Auto-Protect. When prompted, select the amount of time you want the software to be disabled. To disable it completely, go to Programs in the Windows Control Panel and then select uninstall Norton 360.
- Open the Norton 360 Control Panel
If Norton 360 is enabled, it is running in the background. Navigate to the task bar, and click on the tiny arrowhead to view the tray icons. Right-click on the Norton 360 program's icon, and select Open.
- Deselect the protection options
Review the summary page and the protection settings. Then, remove the checks in the boxes next to Firewall and Auto-Protect.
- Disable the program for a period of time
After deselecting Auto-Protect, a dialog box presents itself. From the drop down list, select the length of time you want to disable Norton 360. If you select forever, the program does not automatically reactivate.
- Uninstall the program
If you want to disable the program permanently, it is best to remove it from the hard drive. Click on the Start button, and open the Control Panel. Under Programs, click on Uninstall A Program or Add/Remove Programs. Find Norton 360 in the list of installed applications. Click on it once, and press the Uninstall button.
