To access the Navigation Center of McAfee, double-click on the McAfee button located in the system tray, and click on the Navigation link. Once the Navigation Center screen appears, click on the Real-Time Scanning link, and select the Turn Off option. Open the drop-down menu, and select the amount of time you wish to keep McAfee disabled. If you don?t want McAfee to activate itself automatically after the selected period of time, select the Never option from the menu. When ready, click the Turn Off button, click Done, and close the McAfee control panel.

To uninstall McAfee, click on the Start button, type ?programs and features? in the search field, and select the Programs and Features option from the list of results. Click on the McAfee SecurityCenter entry, click on the Uninstall button, and follow the steps until the removal process completes. Download the McAfee Consumer Product Removal from websites such as MajorGeeks.com or BleepingComputer.com, and double-click on the downloaded MCPR.exe file. Click Yes when the User Access Control prompt pops up, accept the End User License Agreement, type your McAfee username and password if required, and restart your computer once the CleanUp Successful message appears.
