The motherboard is a rectangular board that connects other computer components including the Central Processing Unit, driver controllers, Random Access Memory among other core components. The CPU acts as the “brain” of the computer. The CPU mediates communication with other parts of the computer via the chipset. The RAM on the other hand stores information that the CPU uses while the computer is switched on. Information on the RAM is erased when the computer is switched off.
The hard disk drive is generally a rigid of platters with a magnetic surface. It is where the computer stores information permanently. The keyboard is an external attachment that is used by the user to enter text commands to the computer. It has keys for letters and numbers, and other specials keys such as the navigation and function keys.
The mouse has two buttons and sometimes a wheel between the two bottoms that allows you to scroll through screen information. The power supply unit ensures efficient supply of power to the computer’s internal components.Learn more about Computers & Hardware
