To delete the Ask search engine toolbar, close all web browsers, uninstall the program from the Windows Control Panel, and delete the add-on from your web browsers. To avoid installing the toolbar in the future, carefully read the prompts when installing other programs that automatically install the program unless you select the "Do not install" option.
- Close your web browsers
In order to properly remove the Ask toolbar, close all web browsers. If needed, print these instructions before continuing.
- Uninstall the program
Open up the Windows Control Panel, and select Uninstall a Program. If you are using Windows XP, select Add or Remove Programs. From the list of installed applications, find the Ask Toolbar and Ask Toolbar Updater. Highlight each application, and click on the Uninstall button.
- Clean up your web browsers
In Chrome, click on the settings icon, and select Tools and then Extensions. Highlight each extension related to Ask.com, and click on the trash can icon to delete it. In Firefox, follow a similar process, except that the path is to select Tools, then Add-Ons, and then Extensions. In Internet Explorer, click on the gear icon, select Manage Add-Ons, and then choose Toolbars and Extensions. Right-click each extension, and select Delete.
