How Do You Create a Book on is an online literacy program that features more than 10,000 books from a growing network of publishers, but the website does not allow users to create their own books as of 2015. The library consists of more than 4,700 Capstone titles, including illustrated books for early readers, engaging nonfiction for middle school students, and contemporary fiction created specifically for students at each grade level.

The publisher program began in 2012 to provide MyON users with an even larger selection of leveled and interest-based texts for online reading. As of 2015, schools have access to over 60 publishers, including Candlewick Press, Britannica Digital Learning, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, National Geographic Kids and Raven Tree Press. Educators may contact their sales representatives about adding additional publishers.

MyON is a literacy supplement for children in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Students begin the program by taking Lexile placement exams to determine their reading levels, and then selecting their favorite interests. The software uses this information to recommend books. The system tracks books read and amount of time spent reading, and assigns periodic assessments to measure each student's progress.

A teacher may create book sets, small collections of titles based on a central theme. Book sets reinforce classroom lessons or serve as enrichment activities to expand classroom learning.
