Users may download their own videos by accessing the Video Manager section of their YouTube account. It is a violation of YouTube's terms of service to download a video or audio file of a video that doesn't belong to the user.
Users must go to the Video Manager once signed into YouTube to download their own videos. Once they find the video they would like to download and click the arrow next to the Edit button, there will be a selection to download it as an .mp4 file, which is a video file. If users are unable to download their own videos, it may be for several reasons. If the video has copyrighted material, it may not be downloaded. Also, if users have already downloaded two videos in the last hour, they will have to wait. Users may only download five of their own videos in one day.
It is expressly stated in YouTube's terms of service that downloading content from other authors is illegal. If users are simply trying to avoid advertisements, they can download appropriate ad blocking software. Ad blocking software is not illegal and can be used on a computer to block the viewing of ads from YouTube videos.
