To convert a stereo to include Bluetooth, connect a Bluetooth audio adapter or Bluetooth receiver to the stereo. These products are quick to set up and easy to use.
A Bluetooth adapter is a small yet simple device that allows regular stereo systems to connect to digital devices such as laptops, tablets and smartphones through Bluetooth technology. This tool is a stand-alone device that does not require special software or connectors. It simply plugs into a regular audio connection on a stereo. Run through the following steps to turn any stereo or powered speaker set into a Bluetooth device.
- Find a Bluetooth adapter or receiver
- Connect the audio cables
- Turn on the power
- Pair devices
There are several adapters and receivers available, including the Logitech Bluetooth Audio Adapter, the Belkin NFC Enabled HD Bluetooth Music Receiver and the B1 Bluetooth Music Receiver.
Connect audio cables to both the receiver and the stereo amplifier. Most receivers have RCA cable connections to connect to stereo systems. However, some also have 3.5 mm connections that can plug into stand-alone speakers or car audio systems.
Turn on the power to both the device and the stereo.
Pair the devices with the receiver to play audio through the stereo system.
