Gmail contacts can disappear for a number of reasons, including user error or computer glitches. Thankfully, the steps to restore the contacts are fairly straightforward.

Step 1: Open Gmail

Open Gmail and log in using the proper credentials. Click the Gmail button located in the top left portion of the screen. From the drop down box that appears, click on "Contacts."

Step 2: Restore Contacts

In the Contacts screen, click the "More" button that is located just above the contacts list. It is just to the right of the button with a head and shoulders icon used to add a new person to the contacts list. This will cause a pop up box to appear, allowing the user to make a select of the time period from which to restore a contact. The choices are 10 minutes ago, 1 hour ago, Yesterday, 1 week ago or Custom, which allows a person to create his or her own time frame. Choose the appropriate time and click the "Restore" button. When the process is complete, a notification message appears at the top of the screen.
