Apple's MacBook Air can be connected to a TV using a special adapter and accompanying cable. With these accessories, connecting the MacBook Air to the TV should take no longer than a couple of minutes.
- Gather the accessories
Purchase a Thunderbolt-to-HDMI adapter connector and an HDMI cable. These are available through Apple and many electronic retail outlets. Due to the lack of an HDMI connector slot on the MacBook Air, this adaptor is necessary for connecting the computer to the TV.
- Connect the adapter to the MacBook Air
Plug the Thunderbolt male end of the cable to the female Thunderbolt port on the side of the MacBook Air. Plug one end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI female port on the adapter.
- Connect the HDMI cable to the TV
Locate the HDMI port on the side or back of the television. Plug the HDMI cable into this port.
- Turn on the TV
Turn on the television, and use the remote control to set the TV to the proper input setting. This setting varies by TV but is often labeled Aux or HDMI on the dropdown menu. Once connected, the desktop of the MacBook Air should display on the television screen.
