Most Grundig radios require portable shortwave receiver, typical shortwave receiver and tabletop receiver repairs. These kinds of repairs are common in Grundig Satellit 800, 700, 650 and 600 models. Others include Grundig Yacht Boy 400 and Grundig Classic 960.
There are cases in which the radio does not tune or its tuning indicator does not move. Such a radio requires a dial string repair. However, it is possible to “heavy up” the radios, which makes them failure proof for long durations. A “heavy up” involves regular maintenance on electrolytics, selenium rectifiers and all high-voltage capacitors. These three are the most common failure items in Grundig radios.
