Codes for the Cisco Digital Transport Adapter Remote are specific to the TV brand, so the brand must be known to program the remote. Once programmed, the remote can control both the DTA box and the TV. The Time Warner Cable website, TimeWarnerCable.com, contains a list of these codes.
The DTA converter box converts the digital over-the-air signals so that an older, analog TV can receive them. Modern high-definition TVs do not require this converter box. Once codes for the DTA remote have been obtained, the remote can be programmed by holding down the TV Power and Prog buttons on the remote until the LED turns on. The code is then entered for the TV. If the code is valid, the LED turns off. If it's invalid, the LED blinks twice, and another code can be entered.
