Full Answer

Customers who are bringing their own device to use as a T-Mobile prepaid hot spot are required to purchase a SIM card. This card is used to access T-Mobile's network. Those who are purchasing a T-Mobile device simply have to choose which device best fits their needs. Once the SIM card or device is received, the customer then has to activate the device and choose a data plan.

T-Mobile offers two options for its prepaid hot spot data passes. Customers can choose to purchase 30-day passes with automatic renewal, or they can purchase a one-time pass for either one, seven or 30 days. As of April 2015, the 30-day passes begin at $20.00 per month for up to 1 gigabyte of 4G LTE data and go up to $70.00 for up to 11GB of 4G LTE data. The one-time passes are $5.00 for up to 500 megabytes in one day, $10.00 for up to 1GB in seven days or $30.00 for up to 3GB in 30 days.
