PBS Kids Sprout is a television network channel targeted towards preschoolers and families. In 2005, the network was first released on Comcast as a video-on-demand service. Later that year, PBS Kids Sprout was launched into its own channel, even replacing the PBS Kids channel on some providers. In November 2013, NBCUniversal gained full ownership of the network after acquiring all of its shares from Apex and PBS. As a result, PBS Kids was removed from the network name and renamed Sprout.
