  1. Find the Networking tab

    Click on the Start button, and then click Control Panel. Type in "Adapter" in the search box, then click the magnifying glass icon. Click View Network Connections, located underneath the Network and Sharing Center heading. Right-click the connection for which you want to change the IP address, and then click on the Networking tab.

  2. Change the properties for the Internet Protocol Version 4 subheading

    In the list underneath the heading "This connection uses the following items", find the Internet Protocol Version 4 subheading, and left-click on it. Make sure that the Properties button is clickable, then click on it.

  3. Type in the new IP address

    Click on the circle next to Use the Following IP Address. Type in the new IP address in the box next to IP Address. If you do not know the Subnet Mask and Default Gateway numbers, ask the network administrator because you may need them to proceed. When you are finished, click the OK button.
