To change the icons of default desktop elements, including My Computer, Recycle Bin and Network, right-click on an empty spot on the desktop and select the Personalize option. Click on the Change Desktop Icons link, select the element you want to change and click on the Change Icon button. If the desired icon image is not present in the default system icon folder, click on the Browse button to locate it.

To change the icon of a file or folder, right-click on it, select the Properties option, open the Customize tab and click on Change Icon. Select an icon image file from the list and click OK. To undo unwanted changes, click on the Restore Defaults button in the Change Icon dialog box.

To modify icon size, open the context menu by right-clicking on the desktop, hover over View and select one of the three preset size options. To modify the size in custom increments, click on the desktop, hold down Control, and use the mouse scroll wheel to increase or reduce the size of icons by scrolling it up or down.
