As of January 2016, T-Mobile does not offer free cellphones. However, the company has phones available that do not require any upfront payments but entail monthly installments. The cheapest phone available for purchase at T-Mobile.com is around $30, but some phones that advertise zero down payments require payments as low as $2.50 per month.
To view available phones, visit T-Mobile.com, and hover over the Shop link at the top of the page. From the sub-menu, select Shop All Phones. To find the most affordable phone, navigate to the Sort By menu to the right of the screen, and select "Price Low to High." The website lists the lowest priced phones first on the page. The lowest priced phones must be paid in full upon signing up for T-Mobile services. However, users who sign up for a two-year contract may be eligible to receive a smartphone without paying for a deposit.
Cellphones that do not require a deposit must be paid over the contract duration through a monthly rate. If the customer's credit is approved through the company, the customer is exempt from having to pay an interest rate throughout the duration of his two-year contract. If the contract is canceled, the customer must pay the remaining balance of the phone in full.
