There is no such thing as a Windows Vista recovery disk. However, users can use a Windows Vista installation disc to revert their system to an earlier state or create a system repair disc. A system repair disc is a collection of diagnostics tools.
To create a system repair disc, click the Start button, and then click Control Panel. Navigate to System and Maintenance, and click Backup and Restore. Click Create a System Repair Disc on the left, and complete the disc creation wizard. Windows may ask for administrative privileges.
With either a Windows Vista installation disc or a system repair disc inside the drive, restart the computer. The system boots the recovery interface. If not, change your BIOS settings to boot the disc before booting the hard drive.
