Windows Media Center is a media player and video recorder developed by Microsoft that is included in several versions of Windows, including Windows Vista and Windows 7. Users who have a version of Windows that does not come with the Windows Media Center preinstalled, such as Windows 8, can purchase it in the Microsoft store.
As of 2009, Microsoft discontinued development for Windows Media Center. The media player is not available on Windows 10. A program called Windows DVD Player replaces the DVD player functionality of the Windows Media Center in Windows 10. Users who upgrade from Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 10 lose the functionality of the Windows Media Center.
