The motherboard of a computer running Windows can be identified using the Start menu. This process only gives the model number, which you then need to match up to a list of specifications related to your system.
- Open the Start menu
Click the Windows button in the lower-left corner of the screen. This opens the Start menu and allows you to view all the programs on your computer.
- Open System Information
Click Programs, followed by Accessories. Find the System Tools menu, and click System Information to open a new window.
- Search for the motherboard
On the System Summary screen, look System Manufacturer and System Model to get the maker and model number of your motherboard.
