Wireless carriers, such as Verizon Wireless and AT&T, offer a number of ways to trace a customer's stolen cellphone for a small fee per month. Aside from wireless carriers, a stolen cellphone may also be traced by signing up to a third-party mobile recovery service.
Verizon's Mobile Security Premium application for smartphones allows subscribers to locate a device remotely as well as provide detailed instructions to detect the stolen phone's location. Similarly, AT&T's Family Map app helps locate the user's mobile phone through GPS technology. Both Verizon Wireless and AT&T's mobile security applications also keep the phone and the owner's information secure and protected by making it possible for the owner to suspend or lock the device remotely.
