When a smartphone is turned into a WiFi hotspot, other devices can connect to it to access the internet via the phone's mobile data service.
Go to "Settings" and then tap on "Wireless & Networks." Tap "More," and then tap "Tethering & Mobile Hotspot."
Tap the notification then look next to "Portable WiFi Hotspot" where there is a checkbox. Make sure this is checked then select Setup WiFi Hotspot. Under "Network SSID," type in a name for the phone. Under "Password," select a password. This will prevent other people from accessing the phone's data, unless they have the password. Tap "Save."
Enter the password into any devices that are to connected to the phone.
Go to "Settings" and then tap on "Mobile." Tap on "Personal Hotspot" and turn it on.
Tap "WiFi password" and then enter a password to restrict who can access the WiFi. Then, under "Connect Using WiFi," enter a name for the phone's WiFi hotspot.
Now go to the other devices that are to connected to the WiFi hotspot and enter the password.
