EBay, Craiglist, and Amazon.com are all websites where you can sell household items online. Sellers on eBay must create an account to use the site's services.
Sellers on eBay must describe the item and can post up to 12 photos. Next, you're asked to indicate how much you are asking for the item, as well the type of shipping method and its cost. You can list the item either as an auction, in which a minimum bid is set and buyers have a limited window of time to bid on the item, or as a Buy It Now item, where buyers can simply purchase it at a set price at the click of a button. Listing the item makes it viewable to buyers around the world.
To sell an item on Amazon.com, first decide whether to be an Individual or a Professional seller. If you plan to sell more than 40 items per month, Amazon.com recommends the Professional plan, which has fewer selling fees and provides access to 15 more selling categories than does the Individual account. However, a Professional account also requires a monthly subscription of about $40, as of 2015. Once you finish the registration process, you can begin selling items.
To sell an item on Craiglist, go to your local Craiglist page. Click Post to Classifieds, and select either For Sale by Owner or For Sale by Dealer. Pick a category, enter a description, set a price, provide your contact info, and wait for interested buyers to contact you.
