Users can take a screen shot on some laptops by pressing the PrtScn key. On laptops that lack a PrtScn button, the user can use key combinations, such as the FN and Insert, to take a screen shot. The user manual that comes with the laptop may have specific instructions.
Some laptop keyboards use other names for the PrtScn button, such as PRTSC, Print Screen or a similar name. When the user press the PrtScn key, the computer copies the image of the computer screen to the Clipboard. Then, the user can paste the image to a Word document or to an image editing program.
Mac users can take screen shot by the key combination Command, Shift and 3. They can also select portions of the screen by pressing Command, Shift and 4 and selecting the area they wish to capture.
