You can retrieve deleted history from your computer using System Restore depending on the deletion method in which you used. System Restore in Windows recovers lost history and uninstalled programs without deleting recent history and installations. If you use Windows 8, enabling the File History feature can make it easier to recover deleted history in the future.
- Open System Restore
Click the Start button in Windows 7, and type "System Restore" in the search field. Tap or click the Search button on the Start screen in Windows 8. For Windows XP, click Start and All Programs. Navigate to the Accessories folder at the top of the list, and click the System Tools folder. Select System Restore.
- Follow the instructions
Follow the instructions in the System Restore Wizard for restoring your computer to an earlier date. Pick the most recent date before you deleted any files or history. Confirm the restore point, and click Finish.
- Reboot the computer
System Restore restarts the computer during the restoration process. Once you log back into your account, locate the history in the appropriate folder. For Web history, look in the AppData folder for the browser name. For program and installation history, do a search for the program in Windows Explorer.
