Phoenix University offers a continuing education program for teachers that is available in online format. Course areas include online teaching, bilingual teaching, career and technical education, foundations of education and special education. The University of Wisconsin offers online courses in teaching as part of certificate and degree programs, included as electives for the school's Master of Science in Education degree. As of 2015, courses include Using Games for Learning and Assessment; Teaching for Creativity and Innovation: The Maker Culture; Integrating Social Media Instructional Strategies; Mindful Approaches to Classroom Management; and Strategies for Dealing with Disruptive Behavior.
As of 2015, Grand Canyon University has an Online Continuing Education for Teachers course that provides three graduate credits to qualifying individuals. Classes start on a regular basis and usually last six weeks. The Online Learning Consortium has an Online Teaching Certificate program that trains new online teachers. The program starts with a foundation course, proceeds to three electives and finishes with a concluding presentation.
