The OneDrive app and Photos app allow you to view online photos in Windows 8.1. OneDrive is a free online storage system built into Windows 8.1 that allows you to upload photos to view on other Windows devices. When using the Photos app, clicking the toggle in the upper-left corner allows you to switch to the OneDrive picture folders. Using File Explorer also allows you to view online photos stored on OneDrive.
Any files created on the OneDrive website are only available to view online to help save the PC's hard drive space. Files added to OneDrive from your PC are only available offline on that specific computer. All OneDrive accounts have a storage limit, viewable in the settings screen. OneDrive also allows you to buy more storage if needed, though it doesn’t accept uploads larger than 10 GB. You can recover any deleted OneDrive files on the original desktop or the website's Recycle Bin.
To access OneDrive, you must first be signed into your Microsoft account. Upload files to OneDrive manually or automatically by adjusting the settings. If uploads take a long time, Microsoft recommends making sure the PC isn’t entering sleep mode while uploading multiple files at once.
