As Microsoft no longer offers Office XP downloads or licenses, it is not possible to download the office suite software. Microsoft discontinued Office XP in July 12, 2011. As of 2015, the latest version of the application is Office 365 and is available at Office.com.
Users must be wary of third parties that offer Office XP downloads. As reported by a user in the comments section, the installer offered by CNet.com contains two viruses. Moreover, there is no way to activate a digitally-acquired copy of Office XP, as Microsoft no longer sells Office XP license codes. The only way to acquire a working copy of Office XP is to buy a CD version. Office XP is not compatible with Windows versions 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 and may not work on your system.
Office 365 builds on the capabilities of earlier versions of Office adds Internet browser applications, the ability to work together on a single file with other people and support for mobile devices. Microsoft offers the application with a monthly subscription. A free trial that lasts for a month is also available. To download Office 365, login to Office.com with a Microsoft account, and click Buy or Try, depending on whether or not you want the trial.
