To download MP3s, you need an Internet connection, a computer with a sound card, an MP3 player and a site that allows you to download the files legally. In most cases, you need to pay for the MP3 files and then simply click a download button.

To download an MP3, activate an Internet connection. Connect your computer or laptop to the Internet.
- Choose your MP3 music provider
To choose the website to use to download an MP3 file, consider the device you want to use to play the song. If you own a Mac, iPod, iPhone or iPad, you may want to try iTunes. Otherwise, purchase MP3 files from Amazon. Alternatively, try some free and legal sites, such as Jamendo, Pure Volume and Artist Server.

After downloading the MP3, choose where to play your file. As of 2014, most computers and laptops have software that plays music, as do many smartphones. If you're using an MP3 player, connect the device to your computer using a USB stick or cable. Move the MP3 file over to the MP3 player by dragging and dropping it from the download folder to the MP3 player's folder, and play the file on your device of choice.
