You can disable a Dell laptop’s touchpad by typing “touchpad” in the search box and selecting Mouse and touchpad settings. Then you need to touch the Touchpad toggle to disable the touchpad.
On the Dell laptops, use the Touchpad toggle to turn off the touch pad. If you do not see a Touchpad toggle, disable the touchpad by touching “Additional mouse options” and clicking Dell Touchpad or ClickPad tab. Next, click on “change Dell Touchpad settings." An option to disable the touchpad may or may not be available based on the manufacturer of the drivers and software for the touchpad.
To disable a Lenovo laptop’s touchpad, press "Fn+F8". On the pop-up, choose the second option that says “Enable track point only (disable touch pad)." You can also click on Windows start button and go to the control panel. Choose “mouse” to get a pop-up, and select UltraNav tab or ThinkPad tab. Then uncheck Enable TouchPad.
You have the option to disable the touchpad via BIOS. Shut down your ThinkPad, and then power it on; as soon as you see the ThinkPad logo, press F1. Type in a Supervisor password if your system has one. Next, use the cursor key to browse through the menus until you find the one for TouchPad. Change the setting from Enabled to Disabled, and press ESC to return to the main menu; save your settings.
