To create a GIF file, open a new document in Photoshop, add a frame animation panel and add images to the frames. Save the file in GIF format to produce an animated image.
Adobe Photoshop is a handy tool for creating GIF files. To make a GIF in Photoshop, run through the following steps.
- Open a new Photoshop project
- Adjust the layers setting
- Adjust the Timeline settings
- Add frames
- Add images to the frames
- Adjust the animation settings
- Save the file
Open Photoshop and create a new document.
Change the existing layer from a background layer to a regular layer. Alternately, add a new regular layer.
Set the Timeline panel to frame animation mode.
To add frames, select a frame and duplicate it.
To add or change images in a frame, select the frame by clicking on it. To add or change images, edit the frame in the Layers panel.
Set the delay between frames by clicking the delay option in the pop-up menu. Set the looping options by selecting the looping options in the Timeline panel.
To save the GIF, choose the option to save the file for web and select the GIF file format.
Users who do not have access to Photoshop can also create GIFs from multiple photos or video clips with tools, such as MakeAGIF, imgflip, Gickr and GifCam.
