YouTube describes the restrictions for downloading videos under the subtitle Your Use of Content in the terms of service agreement. YouTube provides the content on its site for viewing only on the site, and users cannot download it. By accessing a video on YouTube, users agree to not copy, reproduce or distribute any content. Likewise, users agree to not alter or modify any parts of the service. Since downloading a video removes the ads from the video, it is an alteration of the service.
However, iPod Touch owners can still watch YouTube videos without downloading or converting them. Using the YouTube app by Google complies with the agreement. Alternatively, using a mobile Internet browser, such as the iPod Touch's built-in Safari browser, also enables users to connect to YouTube and watch videos directly without legal risks or the need to download the content.
Using the official app, users can watch YouTube videos, subscribe to channels they like and share content on social media. In addition, the app lets users create playlists, edit and upload videos, and comment on videos.
