Any person can check any other person's email if they have that person's user name and password, allowing for a quick sign-in. It is unethical to check someone's email without permission but, with permission, it is a simple process using a smartphone, tablet or computer.
Email services like Gmail are keyed to users. Entering a user name and the attendant password brings up a unique account.
